About

About Senior Mobility & Home Comfort with Dave

I’m Dave, and I’ll be 81 this April. I’m a husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, and I’ve been using computers and modern tech since they first hit the public market. Before I retired, I worked in Audiology for over seven years, helping people with hearing loss understand better and enjoy a higher quality of life. That experience taught me something important: the right information, explained simply, can make everyday living safer, easier, and a lot less frustrating.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve run into a familiar problem: my mind says, “You can do it,” but my body says, “Hell no, I can’t do that anymore!” That gap between what we think we can do and what we can actually do is where many seniors get hurt or discouraged. I’ve learned there are things we must do to protect ourselves as we age—around balance, mobility, safety at home, and how we handle emergencies. I’m living this life right now, not looking at it from the outside. That’s why I created Senior Mobility & Home Comfort with Dave.

Who This Site Is For

This site is for seniors, the adult children of seniors, and caregivers who want to be proactive—not reactive—about aging. It’s for people who want to prepare for what might come in the future, instead of waiting until after a fall, a scare, or a crisis. It’s also for families who want their loved ones to stay independent and confident, but who know that “just being careful” is not a plan.

I also know many seniors struggle with modern tech: streaming TV, smartphones, gadgets, and all the new “smart” devices that are supposed to make life easier. On a fixed income, with most of the money coming from Social Security, expensive cable packages and complicated tech setups just don’t make sense. I want to help you cut the cord, save money where you can, and still enjoy good entertainment and useful tools.

The Fears and Frustrations I Understand

I share many of the fears and concerns you may have:

  • Worrying that one day balance might become an issue and a simple trip across the room could turn into a fall.
  • Wondering what happens if you have a medical emergency when your spouse or family member is not with you.
  • Wanting healthcare professionals to quickly have your important health information if something does happen.
  • Trying to stretch every dollar on a fixed budget while still staying safe, entertained, and connected.

These are real, everyday concerns for seniors. I live with them too. My goal is to turn those worries into practical plans and simple actions you can actually do.

My Mission

The main mission of this site is simple:
Helping seniors stay safe and confident in their homes and away.

I want you to feel steadier on your feet, safer in your own home, more prepared when you’re out and about, and more comfortable using the technology that’s part of modern life. I’m not here to scare you. I’m here to give you calm, clear, step‑by‑step help.

Why My Approach Is Different

Big corporate health and “senior” sites are often written from a distance. They may be built by teams who don’t actually live as seniors and who are mainly focused on how to make money from this age group. I’m not a corporation. I’m a retired senior living this life every day.

Here’s how I try to be different:

  • I speak plain, everyday language—not medical jargon or tech talk.
  • I share what I am actually using, testing, or thinking about for myself and my family.
  • I look for safe, practical, and budget‑friendly options whenever possible.
  • I’m honest about what works, what doesn’t, and where I’ve personally made mistakes so you don’t have to repeat them.

What You’ll Find Here

On Senior Mobility & Home Comfort with Dave, you’ll find content that is designed to be simple, safe, and easy to follow. You don’t need a gym, special training, or expensive equipment to get value from this site.

You can expect:

  • How‑to guides for staying safer and more independent at home.
  • Simple balance and mobility routines you can do in everyday places, like at the kitchen counter.
  • Checklists and quizzes to help you spot early signs of mobility loss or safety risks before something bad happens.
  • Product reviews and recommendations that focus on real‑world use and value, not just fancy marketing.
  • Tech help for things like setting up streaming TV without cable and making your devices easier to use.
  • Personal stories and experiences from my own life as a senior, so you know you’re not alone.

Some specific topics you’ll see include:

  • Easy balance routines you can do safely at home.
  • An at‑home test to see if you might be starting to lose mobility—and what to do about it.
  • Why senior mobility matters more than you might think.
  • How to set up streaming TV without an expensive cable package.
  • Simple, safer bathroom upgrades you can make on a budget (including ideas under about $50).

Products and Tools I Recommend

I will recommend products that I believe can truly help with safety, comfort, and independence. These may include things like:

  • Simple mobility aids (such as canes or walkers).
  • Home safety items (like grab bars, reachers, and non‑slip solutions).
  • Devices that help share vital health information or make it easier for others to find out what you need in an emergency.
  • Tech tools that seniors can actually use without a headache, including options to help you cut the cord and save money on TV.

I look at what I would feel comfortable using myself or suggesting to a family member. I pay attention to safety, real user feedback, and value for the money—especially for those of us living on fixed incomes.

A Friendly Voice From the NC Coast

I live on the coast of North Carolina, and I write as “Dave”—not as a company, not as a faceless expert, but as another senior standing right beside you. I’m retired, and part of my purpose now is to help other seniors avoid the same frustrations, mistakes, and wasted money that I’ve gone through.

I want this site to feel like a calm, friendly, reassuring family member sitting at the kitchen table with you, talking things through in a down‑to‑earth way. Not lecturing. Not scaring you. Just helping.
